Another county in Arkansas bans wind farms

Another county in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas took steps this week to ban construction of any more wind energy farms for the rest of 2025.

The emergency ordinance was approved this week by the Newton County Quorum Court, which is similar to county commissions in Oklahoma, and is considered the governing body in counties across Arkansas. It also became the fifth county in Arkansas to adopt such a ban on renewable energy projects.

One of those who voted for the moratorium was Arlis Jones, the Justice of the Peace in Newton County.
