Colorado Congresswoman Boebert comes out against proposed rail passenger service in her state

The Coloradans pushing for a passenger rail project along the state’s Front Range were shocked this month when they learned Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert opposed the project.

Plus, she asked the Trump Administration’s DOGE or Department of Government Efficiency to yank funding for the proposed passenger rail service from Fort Collins to Pueblo and review and evaluate previous support for the train plan. Congresswoman Boebert even called it a waste of taxpayer dollars and a threat to private property rights. Her opposition came after Colorado received more than $66 million in federal funding to improve rail transportation and safety infrastructure in the state, including for freight rail lines that the state eventually hopes to repurpose for passenger routes.
