Leaders of the Oklahoma Broadband Office and internet providers won’t be gathering Friday as planned for the launching of service in five east central Oklahoma Counties.
The severe cold weather, ice and snow prompted the Office to announce the Friday ceremony has been rescheduled to April 18 in Konawa. The ceremony was planned for the launching of expansion projects in Hughes, Lincoln, McIntosh, Okfuskee and Seminole counties.

Background:
These projects are among some 175 that are funded by the ARPA State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund and ARPA Capital Projects Fund that will greatly improve high-speed internet access throughout the state, but especially in rural Oklahoma. Awarded grants administered by the Oklahoma Broadband Office will connect more than 70,000 homes and businesses in 57 of the state’s 77 counties.
