Say goodbye to the record-breaking frigid weather

Just in case you were wondering how long areas of Oklahoma were below freezing…..the Oklahoma Mesonet has the answer.

Climatologist Gary McManus said, “Miami was the last Mesonet site to break back above freezing, right at about 113 hours.”

While you remember just how cold it was in the state, this week’s warm weather is certainly welcome.

“While we will see some ups and downs, as per usual in Oklahoma weather, we won’t be seeing anything like last week again

this season. That’s not to say it won’t get cold again, which it definitely will, or even that it won’t get DANGED cold again, which it probably will, but we have a good 7-10 days of “hey, it feels like spring” weather,” wrote McManus in his Monday morning Mesonet report.
Mark it down…the statewide average temperature of 9.6F on Feb. 19 was the 33rd coldest day on record in the state, dating back to 1920.
The coldest? Feb. 16 and 15, 2021, yes, winter storm Uri, came in at minus 0.6F and minus 0.2F to take the top two spots.
