The nation’s $3.5 billion overhaul of the U.S. Navy’s nuclear submarine communications system means good news for one Oklahoma City company.
Defense contractor Long Wave Inc. will triple in size as a result of the massive program, reported the Journal Record.
Long Wave’s chief marketing officer, Chris Lozano said the company is attempting to hire another 100 engineers and senior program managers. The company’s current workforce totals about 150. As a result of the new contract, the company anticipates revenue will go from $35 million a year to nearly $100 million in a few years.
The company is a subcontractor in the Northrop Grumman-led effort aimed at increasing communication with Navy submarines in the event of nuclear war. It not only would allow military leaders to communicate with the subs but the President as well.
The communications would be carried out with E130J aircraft featuring new designs, engineering and weapon system integration with the Navy’s mission supported at Tinker Air Force Base.
