Five rural volunteer fire departments and emergency management teams near PSO’s Rock Falls Wind Project in northern Oklahoma received more than $9,000 on recent contributions from the utility.
Public Service Company of Oklahoma announced it gave $9,250 to the responders as a show of support and gratitude for the critical services they provide, ensuring the safety of PSO workers, landowners and neighbors during emergencies.
“Volunteer fire departments along with emergency management teams play a crucial role in keeping our community safe,” said PSO External Affairs Manager Kristi Sproul.
“This contribution will assist first responders in continuing their outstanding daily work.”
For Kay and Grant County Emergency Management, these funds will help pay for improved radio communication equipment. The first responders receiving donations include:
Hawley Fire Department
Lamont Fire Department
Deer Creek Fire Department
Kay County Emergency Management
Grant County Emergency Management
The Rock Falls wind farm, located in Kay and Grant Counties in northern Oklahoma, consists of Siemens wind turbines manufactured in their Iowa-based facilities. The project became operational in December 2017. 120 MW of the 154.58 MW renewable energy produced will provide Kimberly-Clark with equivalent power equal to a significant portion of the electricity needs of its North American manufacturing operations.
Rock Falls marks EDF RE’s second project in Oklahoma. In 2016, the Company completed the Great Western Wind Project which supplies Google with its output of electricity. And in June of 2018, EDF Renewables announced the signing of Purchase and Sale Agreements (PSA) by which PGGM Infrastructure Fund will acquire a 50% ownership interest in Rock Falls Wind.
