Drilling in the Permian Basin remains steady, based on figures from the latest Baker Hughes rig count.
The report showed 303 oil and gas rigs were active in the basin of West Texas and southeast New Mexico. It was the highest count in all of the nation’s various shale plays.
The Eagle Ford of South Texas was second highest with a count of 48 rigs followed by the Williston of North Dakota at 35.
The Haynesville in east Texas and Louisiana finished the recent week with 30 rigs while the Marcellus in the Appalachian basin had a count of 25 rigs.
The Ardmore Woodford spent another week with no reported drilling activity, based on the Baker Hughes rig report. The Arkoma Woodford continued with only one rig while the Cana Woodford stayed at 21. The Barnett play in north Texas remained at 2 rigs. The D-J Niobrara of Colorado and southern Wyoming remained at 7 rigs.
Drilling activity in the Granite Wash stayed at 7 rigs while the Mississippian spent another week with no reported drilling. The Utica play had a ount of 10 rigs.
