The number of oil and gas rigs active across the U.S. and in Oklahoma were steady over the past week, according to the latest Baker Hughes Co. rig count released on Friday.
The report showed Oklahoma remained at 41 active rigs. The number compared to 35 rigs reported a year earlier.
The U.S. count dropped one to 587 rigs. There was a decline of four oil rigs to 424 while the number of gas rigs increased by 3 to 99. The nation’s current total of 587 is 36 below the 623 reported a year ago. The decline over the past year included 18 oil rigs and 17 gas rigs. The number of offshore rigs in the Gulf of Mexico slipped one to 19.
Texas gained one rig to reach 277 while New Mexico’s count fell two to 104 and North Dakota remained at 33. Louisiana’s numbers declined one to 41 while Colorado remained at 11 rigs. The Red Top Rig Report showed the rig count in Kansas increased two to 24 rigs in the past week.
Ohio was unchanged at 9 rigs while Pennsylvania saw no change and stayed at 14 rigs. Utah continued with 11 rigs, West Virginia remained at 10 rigs and Wyoming’s count was unchanged at 17 rigs.
