As crude oil futures fell by more than $1 a barrel on Wednesday’s trading, Oklahoma energy stocks fared no better, recording losses for a second consecutive day.
Crude fell even as negotiators attempted to bring an end to the stoppage of crude oil shipments out of Libya. The day brought news that OPEC+ was in talks about a possible delay of an output increase, if Libyan production were to rise, reported Reuters.
Here’s how prices ended the day. West Texas Intermediate crude, the US benchmark finished below $70, falling $1.14 or 1.62% to settle at $69.20 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark, Brent crude, finished down $1.05 or 1.42% at $72.70 a barrel.
Reuters reported the Brent crude futures plunged as much as 11% or about $9 in a little over a week and hit a low of $72.63 a barrel.
Wednesday brought another round of losses for most Oklahoma energy stocks, including a nearly 9% drop for Mach Natural Resources and a 5% tumble for NGL Energy Partners.
