The Houston electric utility aided by Oklahoma Gas and Electric company workers following Hurricane Beryl is now under investigation by the Texas attorney general.
Ken Paxton, the state’s Republican attorney general, said in a statement. “If the investigation uncovers unlawful activity, that activity will be met with the full force of the law.” He referred to CenterPoint Energy which struggled with widespread power outages that left millions without electricity for several days. OGE sent 105 line workers to help in the restoration of electricity.
Paxton’s investigation will dig into allegations of fraud and waste. His probe follows similar investigations by state reglators and Republican Gov. Greg Abbott. Questions were raised about Centerpoint Energy’s lack of preparations for the arrival of the hurricane.
