Colorado kicks oil and gas operator out of the state

Prospect Energy LLC just got the boot from the state of Colorado.

Facing $1.7 million in fines for dozens of violations, the oil and gas company lost  its right to operate in the state and was ordered by the Energy and Carbon Management Commission to clean up its facilities. The fines stemmed from dozens of violations and a long list of complaints from homeowners as well as local governments, according to the Colorado Sun.

The fines will be waived and Prospect’s 59 wells will end up on the orphan well program.
