Nation’s oldest church in Santa Fe has solar panels

Going solar—the nation’s oldest Christian church, San Miguel chapel in the heart of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Solar panels were recently installed on the roof of the church that was constructed in 1610. Since it is located in a Historic District, it means special construction requirements and permits had to be met by installers for Positive Energy Solar, reported Solar Power World.

In meeting the requirements, the panels could not be visible by the public. Plans to convert to solar power actually started in 2018.
