As some in Oklahoma wonder if and when the state might ever get a Buc-ee’s travel center, Arkansas is winning the race.
Reports by the Benton Courier and Arkansas Business indicate the city of Benton wants to renegotiate the proposed sale of 29 acres of city land for the site of the Buc-ee’s.
The city leaders had been looking at a $2.25 million sale, but now there are talks to slash the purchase price to $800,000. The city of Benton would get in exchange, a new road connecting Highway 229 to the rear of the Buc-ee’s property and give full use to the city.
Arkansas Business reports once the deal is finalized, construction could get underway “soon.”
