Crude oil prices took a Monday hit on latest deadly violence in the Middle East

Both crude oil prices and Oklahoma energy stocks suffered on Monday. Crude dropped by about 2% and state energy stocks included an 8% fall for one oil and gas firm.

The Hezbollah attack on Israel that killed nearly a dozen children playing in a school yard has many wondering if the war will be expanded and affect crude oil supplies out of the Middle East.

The US standard, West Texas Intermediate crude fell $1.35 or 1.8% to $75.81 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The global benchmark, Brent crude finished down $1.35 or 1.7% and closed at $79.78 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.

August natural gas fell 10 cents to $1.91 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Monday ended up a day of losses for most Oklahoma energy stocks including an 8% tumble for Empire Petroleum and a 6% drop for Canoo Inc.

Other energy stocks had the same kind of day, according to the Texas Energy Report.

NOV Inc. (NOV) down 0.04 at 19.80 – change 0.21%
