Oklahoma isn’t the only state where BlackRock Inc. has been banned from doing business with state agencies because of its ESG policies that discriminate against the oil and gas industry.
Texas did the same and now BlackRock Inc., considered the world’s largest asset manager with $10 trillion assets under management, is hiring some P-R help in Austin, Texas. The company recently hired Danner Bethel, who previously worked in the Bush administration, as director of UDS state and local government affairs for the southern region.
Bloomberg reports Bethel also once was a senior advisor at the strategic advisory firm Crumpton Global. To our knowledge, BlackRock has no such advisor in Oklahoma where it remains on a list of financial firms banned through the Energy Discrimination Elimination Act.
