Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company is asking for yet another rate hike on top of the 7% hike that took effect July 1 as the corporation commission is still deliberating final approval.
The newest rate hike request would bump monthly bills by approximately $3.45 cents more as the utility complies with Corporation Commission rules to file what is known as a Demand Portfolio. The filings are made every three years and are required of utilities that have more than 10,000 meters in the state of Oklahoma.
They are energy assistance and education programs such as the Home Energy Efficiency Program, Weatherization Residential Assistance Program (“WRAP”) and SmartHours which provides price-based demand response for residential and small
commercial customers.
“These multi-pronged programs have helped OG&E’s residential and business customers reduce energy consumption by implementing EE upgrades,” explained Jessica A. King in recent testimony filed in the case (2024-000048). She is the Senior Manager of Customer Programs and Energy Efficiency and Support for OG&E.
“Multiple offerings have provided residents and businesses with targeted choices to participate, which are aimed at improving customer engagement, measure adoption, and program savings.”
