Reports suggest Oklahoma City’s Devon Energy has been on the prowl in the past several months for expansion of its oil and gas holdings.
The company, reported The Motley Fool, recently was interested in acquiring Marathon Oil, firm that was grabbed last week by ConocoPhillips. Devon even held talks with Marathon officials to discuss such a possible takeover.
Motley Fool stated Devon Energy had earlier considered an acquisition of CrownRock but CrownRock ended up in the hands of Occidental Petroleum. Enerplus was another consideration but it too went by the wayside.
