Candidate focuses on Corporation Commission campaign and his health

 

In his first run for political office, former longtime energy journalist Russell Ray is trying make a connection with voters who are complaining more and more about high utility rates. He is also recovering from a heart attack and quadruple heart bypass surgery a week after he became a candidate.

The Duncan Banner reported how Ray, running for the Republican nomination to be decided later this month, wasn’t hesitant in describing the corporation commission as being run by two politicans.

Ray didn’t hesitate to be critical of the Oklahoma utilities that took advantage of the 2021 winter storm bond securitization, saying they should have been better prepared. He and t wo others, former Senator Brian Bingman and Justin Hornback are competing for the GOP nomination.
