AAA: 71 million will travel 50 miles, or more, from home for July 4th

Officials with Triple-A are projecting nearly 71 million Americans will travel 50 miles, or more, from their home for the Independence Day holiday.  That’s an anticipated increase of 5% from last year and 8% more than 2019 – the year before the COVID pandemic.

If those projections are realized then this will be the busiest Fourth of July travel period for the country, and there will be 2.8 million more people traveling by cars than there were last year.

The busiest pickup days for rental cars should be Friday, June 28th, Saturday, June 29th, and Wednesday, July 3rd.
