Texas grid faces challenges over climate change efforts

 

 Researchers at Enverus Intelligence project that demand for electricity could double and threaten the West Texas power grid by 2040.

Efforts to reduce emissions and the developing world of cryptocurrency are coming on strong.  Rigzone.com reports that the researchers say the electrification of oil and gas assets in the Permian Basin would be the driver.

EIR says the increased load will bring the need for more generation capacity and that will push prices significantly higher for consumers.
