ONE Gas subsidiaries await more rate hike requests

The nearly $32 million rate hike requested by Oklahoma Natural Gas isn’t the only such request made by ONG’s parent company, ONE Gas.

In a powerpoint presentation made by ONE Gas, the Tulsa-based company identified it has 5 such requests under consideration by regulators in Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma. They total $102.2 million.

Along with the $31.8 million rate hike request before the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, the firm’s Kansas Gas Service is seeking a $58.1 million rate hike before the Kansas Corporation Commission.

Texas Gas Service, another subsidiary of ONE Gas, has a pending rate case that is expected to be filed in June. Two other cases before the Public Utililty Commission of Texas. One is for $3.7 million and another for $8.6 million. The smaller case applies to the Rio Grande Valley while the larger case is for West and North Texas.

The Kansas Gas Service rate case, filed in March, is before the Kansas Corporation Commission.

ONE Gas explained it has completed $80 million in rate cases before the same regulators in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. The Oklahoma case, completed in June of 2023, totaled $26.3 million. It was the largest of the ONE Gas cases that were completed.

ONE Gas explained it estimates capital investments for 2024 will total $750 million while the subsidiaries replaced 500 miles of transmission, main and service lines in 2023. As of the end of April of 2024, ONE Gas said it had added 7,000 new customer connections.
