While there has been a slight increase in the number of drivers in the U.S. who switched to an electric vehicle in the past year, at the same time, the number of people who don’t want one has increased.
Gallup reported ownership grew from 4% a year ago to 7% this year but the number of those who will not seriously considering buying an EV dropped from 12% to 9%. Equally disappointing for the EV manufacturing industry and the Biden administration is the polling that found the percentage of American drivers who want an EV dropped from 43% in 2023 to 35% this year.
In other words, Gallup found that Americans aren’t as interested as the government wants us to be about owning and driving an EV.
