Crude oil prices made gains in Monday’s trading and so did OK energy stocks

Russia’s decision this week to curb oil output and its attacks on natural gas lines in Ukraine resulted in higher crude oil prices in Monday’s trading. Ukraine’s attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure also added to increased prices.

At the same time, Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains for the day.

West Texas Intermediate crude rose $1.32 or 1.64% to close at $81.95 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Brent crude, considered the global benchmark, also gained $1.32 or 1.55% to finish at $86.75 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.

Both benchmarks have gained this week—11% for Brent and 12.5% for WTI since Friday’s close.

April natural gas fell 4 cents to $1.62 per 1,000 cubic feet.

The majority of Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains in Monday’s trading including a 3% jump for LSB Industries and 2% increases for Coterra Energy and Helmerich & Payne. But Empire Petroleum also experienced a 3% loss for the day.

It was also a day of gains for other energy stocks as shown by the Texas Energy Report.

EOG Resources (EOG) up 2.41 at 127.25 – change 1.93%

Exxon Mobil (XOM) up 1.15 at 114.65 – change 1.02%

Kinder Morgan (KMI) down 0.09 at 17.97 – change 0.50%

Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) up 0.47 at 27.57 – change 1.73%

NOV Inc. (NOV) up 0.13 at 19.23 – change 0.68%

Occidental Petroleum (OXY) up 0.74 at 64.55 – change 1.15%

Phillips 66 (PSX) down 2.99 at 156.46 – change 1.88%

Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD) up 2.68 at 258.20 – change 1.04%

Tellurian Inc. (TELL) down 0.05 at 0.50 – change 8.37%

Valero (VLO) down 1.15 at 168.49 – change 0.68%
