Crude oil and OK energy stocks dropped on Friday

Crude oil prices dropped about 2% on Friday and Oklahoma energy stocks suffered too with one firm dropping 9%.

The Friday drop in oil resulted in weekly losses because U.S. jobs data sharnk the odds of imminent interest rate cuts n the world’s large economy, reported Reuters.

Another factor that affected prices was weak growth in China.

US benchmark, West Texas Intermediate crude finished down $1.54 or 2% at $72.28 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Global benchmark Brent crude dropped $1.37 or 1.7% and finished at $77.33 per barrel on ICE Futures Europe.

March natural gas rose 3 cents to $2.08 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Friday proved to be a day of losses for most Oklahoma energy stocks including a 4% drop for Helmerich & Payne, 5% for Mammoth Energy, and a 9% plunge for SandRidge Energy.

EOG Resources (EOG) down 1.75 at 110.85 – change 0.56%

Exxon Mobil (XOM) down 0.42 at 101.97 – change 0.42%

Kinder Morgan (KMI) down 0.08 at 16.96 – change 0.42%

Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) down 0.20 at 22.46 – change 0.89%

NOV Inc. (NOV) down 2.23 at 17.62 – change 11.24%

Occidental Petroleum (OXY) down 0.29 at 57.04 – change 0.49%
