Crude oil dropped in Wednesday’s trading and OK energy stocks fell too

Crude oil prices and Oklahoma energy stocks finished down after Wednesday’s trading. Crude dropped largely because of pressure by low economic activity in China and a surprise build in U.S. crude inventories.

West Texas Intermediate finished down $1.97 or 2.5% to $75.85 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Global benchmark Brent crude for March finished down $1.16 or 1.4% to $81.71 a barrel. The March futures expired Wednesday and the April contrat finished down $1.89 or 2.3% at $80.55 per baarrel.

March natural gas rose 2 cents to $2.10 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Most Oklahoma energy stocks suffered losses for the day, including LSB Industries at more than 10%, Gulfport Energy at 4%, and Mammoth Energy at 7%.

Other energy stocks? They too finished down for the day, according to the Texas Energy Report.

Kinder Morgan (KMI) down 0.29 at 16.92 – change 1.69%

Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) down 0.69 at 22.85 – change 2.94%

NOV Inc. (NOV) down 0.33 at 19.51 – change 1.67%

Occidental Petroleum (OXY) down 1.33 at 57.57 – change 2.26%

Phillips 66 (PSX) up 1.90 at 144.31 – change 1.33%
