Colorado’s governor promoting passenger trains to the ski mountains

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis continues encouraging the development of more passenger rail service, but this time on the Western Slope….the mountains where rail could serve ski resorts and cities.

He recent rode the first Amtrak Winter Park Express train of the season to the Winter Park Resource where he met supporters and promoted the state’s efforts to expand passenger rail service.

“We would love to get more Texans and Floridians off the roads,” he said jokingly, reported Sky-Hi News. But he also spoke seriously of a proposal to transition coal trains near Craig, located just west of Steamboat Springs into passenger trains.
