Canoo cites progress in manufacturing EVs in Oklahoma

EV startup Canoo says it has created more than 100 new jobs in Oklahoma where it has a manufacturing plant in Oklahoma City and a battery operation in Pryor.

The Journal Record reports the state is home to 20% of the firm’s total workforce.

The business newspaper quoted Canoo Executive Chairman and CEO Tony Aquila.

Aquila said Canoo is creating high-paying jobs and building a world-class manufacturing team and it will “play a critical role in the revenue-generating phase of our growth.”
He said the firm intends to add more workers at both operations in Oklahoma City and Pryor.

“The company is growing its team across Oklahoma to scale manufacturing and meet customer deliveries of 18,000 committed orders representing $750 million in revenue over multiple years,” stated the company in a news release.

Canoo recently delivered the first three of nearly a thousand EVs ordered by the State of Oklahoma. They were manufactured at the 630,000-square-foot facility in west Oklahoma City.
