A breakdown of oil production data from the Texas Railroad Commission shows the top oil-producing counties in the state and they’re in the Permian Basin.
Martin County is number one with nearly 17 million barrels of crude oil produced in the month of September. Midland County had production of more than 16-million barrels while the third and fourth highest producing counties were Upton and Howard, each with more than seven million barrels of produced oil.
No wonder the Permian Basin is the highest producing area in the state of Texas. It has 313 rigs active in the play, despite the number being 20% less than a year ago.
