More than a year after Oklahoma lost the battle with the state of Kansas to land a $4 billion Panasonic EV battery plant, Panasonic is in the process of hiring some of its first workers.

The company, still with a year to go on construction near the eastern Kansas city of De Soto, has its senior leadership team in place.  KSN TV News reports that 34 engineers have been on the payroll and going through training at Panasonic’s Gigafactory plant in Nevada, all in preparation for the early 2025 opening of the plant.

However, many of the plant’s workers will be hired in January and February 2024 and spend much of the year undergoing training.
