Colorado has launched a $12 million grant program aimed at advancing geothrmal energy technology.
Gov. Jared Polis calls it his “Heat Beneath Our Feet” effort to take advantage of geothermal energy and announced $5 mllion in grants in the first round of funding. The funding was authorized in 2022 by the Colorado General Assembly.
“The heat beneath our feet — geothermal energy — provides Colorado with the opportunity to lower energy costs by harnessing zero-emission energy to generate electricity and heat and cool homes, businesses, and communities,” Polis said in the release.
