Crude oil prices weren’t the only commodity to drop in Monday’s trading. So did most Oklahoma energy stocks as they slid about 1% to 2% in many cases.
Brent crude dipped below $80 a barrel and it occurred as investors and the oil and gas industry wait on this week’s meeting of the OPEC+ countries who are expected to make more cuts in production leading into 2024.
West Texas Intermediate, known as the US benchmark, fell 68 cents or 0.9% to $74.86 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude futures finished down 60 cents or 0.7% and closed at $79.98 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
December natural gas fell 7 cents to $2.79 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Most Oklahoma energy stocks finished the day with weak to moderate losses. Some finished down around 2%.
