Crude oil prices fell 1-2% in Friday’s trading following the Thanksgiving Holiday, but Oklahoma energy stocks recorded small gains for the day.
The drop in crude came after the release of some hostages in Gaza, a move that eased Middle Easst worries. It turned out to be the first week of price gains in more than a month.
West Texas Intermediate crude dropped $1.56 or 2% from the close of $75.54 on Wednesday on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude finished down 84 cents or 1% at $80.58 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
December natural gas fell 4 cents to $2.86 per 1,000 cubic feet.’
Most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded slight gains in Friday’s trading, the day after the Thanksgiving Holiday. But there was one exception. Empire Petroleum recorded a gain of 11%.
Other energy stocks also finished up for the week, according to the Texas Energy Report.
