Thursday produced a break in a three-day series of losses for crude oil as prices gained more than $2 a barrel and Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains of 5% to 8%.
The big gains and jumps in oil prices came one day after the U.S. Federal Reserve kept benchmark interest rates on hold.
West Texas Intermediate crude gained $2.23 or 2.8% and finished Thursday’s trading at $82.67 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global standard Brent crude increased $2.22 or 2.6% a barrel to settle at $86.85 on ICE Futures Europe.
December natural gas fell 2 cents to $3.47 per 1,000 cubic feet.
It was a day of big gains for some Oklahoma energy stocks. Mammoth Energy Services recorded an 8% jump while PHX Minerals had a 5% gain while Helmerich & Payne along with Vital Energy Inc. had 4% increases.

Other energy stocks also recorded gains for the day, including a 6% jump for Tellurian, according to the Texas Energy Report.
