An approaching solar eclipse has the attention of the operators of ERCOT, the Texas grid.
They’re curious whether the Saturday eclipse might present new challenges such as possible blackouts because of a lack of solar power. One engineering expert suggests that if the eclipse happens on a scorching day when the grid relies heavily on solar power, it could lead to a power outage.
