The release of two Americans held hostage by the Islamic terror group Hamas apparently eased worries of investors on Friday as crude oil prices dipped a little in trading.
At the same time, Oklahoma energy stocks experienced declines.
The release has some hoping the war might de-escalate and not engulfing the rest of the Middle East region and disrupting oil supplies.
U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures for November dropped 62 cents or 0.7% to close at $88.75 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. December WTI finished 29 cents lower at $88.08 a barrel.
Brent crude, the global benchmark, dropped 22 cents or 0.2% and settled at $92.16 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
November natural gas fell 6 cents to $2.90 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks finished the week with losses, some as much as 3% including Empire Petroleum, LSB Industries and Empire Petroleum. A 4% drop was recorded by Matrix Service Co.
Other energy stocks finished down as well, according to the Texas Energy Report.
