Rig activity continues its fall across Oklahoma and the nation

Oil and gas rig activity took another drop in the past week, including in Oklahoma, according to the latest Baker Hughes Co. report released on Friday.

While more rigs are in storage, sitting upright in some company yards, Baker Hughes reported that Oklahoma’s count fell, slipping by two to only 35 rigs, far from the 64 rigs reported one year ago.

Nationally, the count fell by 7 to 623 and included a decline of 5 oil rigs to 502 and two gas rigs to 116. The U.S. total number of rigs is 142 fewer than the 765 reported a year ago. The decline in the past year included 102 oil rigs and 43 gas rigs.
