Oil prices and Oklahoma energy stocks wrapped up the week’s trading on Friday with gains for the day. Crude rose 1% to a nine-month high on increasing diesel futures and continued concern about tight oil supplies.
West Texas Intermediate crude rose 64 cents or 0.7% to settle at $87.51 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude gained 73 cents or 0.8% and finished at $90.65 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Reuters reported that bothcrude benchmarks remained in technically overbought territory for a sixth straight day. Brent had its highest settlement since November 16, 2022 while WTI had its highet since September 6 of last year.
October natural gas fell 7 cents to $2.51 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains on Friday to finish the week, including LSB Industries with a 6% jump while Helmerich & Payne rose more than 3%.
