Appeals Court strikes down controversial oil train in Utah and Colorado

Environmentalists and others fighting the proposed  Unita Basin Railway, the pone that would carry oil from Utah and across western Colorado and eventually to Oklahoma’s Cushing hub, won a federal appeals court order to block the project.

The Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Appeals Court struck down previous government approval of the project and ruled that a 2021 environmental impact statement and biological opinion from the federal Surface Transportation Board were rushed and violated federal laws.
