Oil prices bounced back nearly 3% in Wednesday’s trading as the weekly draw from U.S. crude stockpiles surprised some investors and analysts. At the same time, many Oklahoma energy stocks experienced losses for the day.
West Texas Intermediate rose $1.86 or 2.8% per barrel to close at $69.56 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude went up $1.77 or 2.5% to finish at $74.03 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
July natural gas fell 16 cents to $2.60 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks were mixed. While Gulfport Energy rose more than 2%, Mammoth Energy Services lost more than 3%.
Most other energy stocks recorded gains for the day according to the Texas Energy Report.
