Iowa corn supporters upset with EPA’s biofuels decision

EPA boosts use of biofuels but holds steady for corn-based ethanol production | Iowa | kimt.com

The disappointment and anger by Iowa’s elected officials to this week’s EPA decision to scale back how much ethanol should be blended into the nation’s gas supply over the next two years should not be a surprise.

After all, Iowa is a corn-rich state and much of the corn is used in the production of bio-fuels. In response to the decision of the EPA, farm groups and those associated with renewable fuel production said the EPA failed to reflect the demand driven by California and other states that mandate cleaner fuel reported the Des Moines Register.
