Interior Secretary unaware of what her own staff was doing to end oil and gas leasing

A new report by a government watchdog group found that non-elected officials in the Biden administration’s Interior Department intended to go far beyond a simple pause of new oil and gas leases by the federal government. And they were doing it without the knowledge of then-newly appointed Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, the former Congresswoman from New Mexico.

The group, Functional Government Initiative used the Freedom of Information Act and obtained documents showing Haaland was unaware  for months of the larger plan by her own staffers reported Just the News.

It showed the staffers apparently intended to take President Biden’s executive order and use it to end all oil and gas leasing on federal lands.
