Crude oil prices and Oklahoma energy stocks fell in Wednesday’s trading as crude dropped 1.5%, largely after the Federal Reserve hinted at more interest rate hikes this year.
The hint left the markets worried about demand, especially after there was another build in U.S. crude oil stocks.
West Texas Intermediate crude dropped $1.15 per barrel or 1.7% to close at $68.27 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude closed down $1.09 or 1.5% at $73.20 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
July natural gas was unchanged at $2.34 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Losses were recorded by most Oklahoma energy stocks including a nearly 5% tumble by Mammoth Energy, and 3% falls by Helmerich & Payne and Ovintiv.
