Wynnewood refinery explosion claims life of worker

 

The funeral for a 43-year old worker who died following last week’s explosion and fire at the Wynnewood Refinery in southern Oklahoma will be held Thursday.

Wes Foster suffered third-degree burns covering 93% of his body and died Friday evening at a hospital in Plano, Texas where he had been rushed following the May 23 incident at the CVR Refinery.

Foster and another employees were working near the refinery’s gasoline hydrotreater when it caught fire and exploded. The hydrotreater is used to remove contaminants as part of the refining process.

The other employee, Eli Warren, was also seriously injured in the blast and reportedly faced surgery.

CVR Refinery indicated a thorough investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Crossway Baptist Church in Sulphur, Oklahoma with Reverend Ronnie Qualls. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
