Rig numbers drop even more across the Anadarko Basin and the U.S.

The highest level reached by the active U.S. rig count during the week ended May 3 was 794, down by 18 rigs from the previous week’s high point, according to Enverus Foundations data.

It cited the Anadarko Basin as recording the largest drop in rig activity.

The count is down 5%, or 38 rigs, in the last month and down 1% YOY. All numbers discussed are weekly peaks to avoid the sometimes wide variability of daily numbers.

In major plays, the largest declines were recorded in the Anadarko Basin (down five rigs to 62), Permian Basin (down three to 345) and DJ Basin (down two to 18). The Williston and Appalachian basins dropped one rig apiece to hit 38 and 53. The Gulf Coast was flat week over week at 95.
