Crude oil’s three-day rally ended Wednesday as prices fell more than a dollar a barrel while at the same time, Oklahoma energy stocks endured another weak day of trading.
The slump in prices that after word spread that economic data suggested there could be another interest rate hike coming from the Federal Reserve.
West Texas Intermediate crude fell $1.15 or 1.6% to $72.56 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude, the global benchmark dropped $1.03 or 1.3% to close at $76.41 on ICE Futures Europe.
Natural gas fell 8 cents to $2.18 for a drop of 3.75%.
Weak was the order of t he day for Oklahoma energy stocks as the majority recorded losses. There were only a few firms that scored gains and the largest was 3% by PHX Minerals. The biggest losses were 2% by Devon Energy, Helmerich & Payne and Ovintiv Inc.
