A day after crude oil prices rose $5 a barrel, they were near flat in Tuesday’s trading and Oklahoma energy stocks that soared on Monday were mixed with losses and gains.
West Texas Intermediate crude responded with a 29 cent increase and settled at $80.71 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude managed at one cent gain to finish at $84.94 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
May natural gas rose 1 cent to $2.11 per 1,000 cubic feet.
The big rally on Monday was sparked by an output target cut announced by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its partners.
Oklahoma energy stocks on Tuesday lost their glow from the large gains recorded on Monday. Mammoth Energy Services fell nearly 6% but there was one exception—Empire Petroleum Corporation gained more than 7%.
