While crude oil prices rose 2% in Wednesday’s trading in response to growing optimism the Federal Reserve will stop its interest rate hikes, Oklahoma energy stocks had a moderate day in trading.
West Texas Intermediate crude in the U.S. closed up $1.73 or 2.1% to finish at $83.26 on the New York Mercantile Exchange, the highest mark in five months.
Global benchmark Brent crude gained $1.72 or 2.01% and finished at $87.33 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. It was Brent’s highest close since late January.
Most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded weak to moderate gains in Wednesday’s trading with Mammoth Energy reporting a more than 2% increase for the day.
Other energy stocks were mixed for the day according to the Texas Energy Report.
