Cities to get federal funding to help replace old leaking natural gas pipelines

The city of Las Cruces, New Mexico will be the first in the nation to receive part of the first $196 million in federal government grants to repair and replace aging and leaking natural gas pipelines in the country.

The Transportation Department and its Pipelines and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration announced Las Cruces will receive a $10 million grant. Nineteen other communities will also receive funding to upgrade 270 miles of natural  gas pipelines reported the Associated Press.
