Bill targeting wind turbine blade junk yards passed out of Senate committee

An Oklahoma state Senate committee on Thursday approved an amended bill targeting wind turbine blade disposal operators.

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee gave a “do pass” to House Bill 2359 which would require disposal operators to not only show financial security to ensure the blades are properly disposed of but file annual reports with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.

As amended, such operators would also be required to pay a $1,000 annual filing fee with the commission.

The do pass came on a 9-1 vote with Senators Boren, Dossett, Green, Howard, Jett, Kidd, Newhouse, Paxton and Rader supporting the measure. The lone no vote came from Senator Woods.
