Marathon Oil finds 3 large gas wells in Grady County

Three Grady County wells with combined natural gas output of more than 34,000 Mcf were reported by Marathon Oil Company.

The company filed completion reports on the three Kem Ranch wells on a single pad located at 24 4N 6W, a site about 5 miles south of the town of Alex. The wells were started in 2021 but completion wasn’t made until a year later and the filings were not made until this week.

The largest well, the Kem Ranch 0406 6-24-25wxh, produced 13,176 Mcf of natural gas along with 33 barrels of oil from a drilled depth of 26,048 feet in the Woodford formation. Its true vertical depth was 14,587 feet following completion in June of 2022. The well had been spudded in July of 2021.

The Kem Ranch 0406 5-24-25wxh, produced 13,056 Mcf of natural gas along with 37 barrels of oil a day. The drilled depth was 25,979 feet while its true vertical depth was 14,777 feet. Completion was in early June of 2022 following a spudding in July of 2021.

The Kem Ranch 0406 2-24-25wxh, completed in May of 2022 produced 8,328 Mcf of natural gas and 14 barrels of oil a day from a drilled depth of 26,086 feet. The true vertical depth, according to the completion report, was zero. The well had been spudded in June of 2021.
